SACK!!!!

Surprise 2-in-1 prediction for my 3rd and 4th "Bold" Predictions

Surprise! This is a 2-in-1 “Bold” prediction post! I decided to put 2 predictions in here because they just go great together! Surprisingly enough, they’re on opposite sides of the ball!

The first prediction is that Marcus Mariota, and the other Titans quarterbacks, will get sacked less than 25 times. This is my most “bold” post so far and I am standing by it.

I know that this very team allowed 54 sacks just last season, but with an improved offensive line (Read Titans Player Group Profile-Offensive Line), and with a slightly more experienced sophomore quarterback, this team could very easily not give up that many sacks.

Now, I’m not saying that Mariota won’t be pressured a lot, but I’m saying I feel like he will be more comfortable standing in the pocket and then stepping up when he feels pressured. I would like to believe that Mariota will play in all 16 games, but as we all know, this team has a track record of quarterbacks getting hurt.

If Mariota does get injured, I feel that Matt Cassel is a good enough veteran quarterback that he can step in and be mobile enough to not get sacked that often. Now that we have the first prediction out of the way, we can move on to the next prediction.

Jurrell Casey is going to have 15 sacks this season. This wouldn’t have been that bold of a prediction 2 years ago, but now is a different story. Despite making it to his first pro-bowl, Casey didn’t really produce as much as he did when we ran a 4-3 scheme and he played DT.

Jurrell Casey #99 of the Tennessee Titans sacks Blake Bortles #5 of the Jacksonville Jaguars during the game at Nissan Stadium on December 6, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee.

I am making this prediction because our defense has been on the rise for the past few years and we have some very good pass rushers who will be taking the focus off of him. Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan will start the season off a little bit faster than Casey, but I think that he will catch up with them and then eventually surpass those two for the best player on the defense.

I’m hoping to here Mike Keith exclaiming his trademark “SACK!!!!” a lot this season. With the latter prediction, I believe we will. I’m hoping to not hear those words hardly at all this season for Mariota’s sake.

My next “Bold” prediction will come sometime next week. While you wait anxiously for the post, Titan Up!
